DAAD Prize for Arugna Adhikari

18.09.2023

International students enrich Karlshochschule on both a cultural and academic level. For this reason, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) awards an annual prize for outstanding international students. This year, Arugna Adhikari (International Business) was awarded the prize. Arugna is originally from Nepal and will receive the DAAD Prize 2023, presented by our President Prof. Dr. Robert Lepenies.

Prof. Dr. Michael Zerr, who made the nomination, emphasizes the importance of Arugna’s commitment:

Arugna is consistently a particularly good, intellectually challenging student. His attitude (post-colonial, critical), which basically corresponds to the profile of Karlshochschule, is paired with a high degree of empathy for his fellow students and an extraordinary social commitment.

He took care of fellow students in a touching way and with a great deal of time and emotional commitment, for example by providing support with integration.

He also founded a sharing initiative KarlsDana, initiated and co-organized various events in this context, Arugna also enriched orientation and transfer weeks. He also volunteered at various university events (graduation ceremonies, information days, etc.).

The DAAD prize (€1,000) is awarded during the introductory week in September at Karlshochschule.
